Dear Killington Ski Club Members
Greetings everybody! We hope that you all had a great summer and are excited about the upcoming winter sports season. Once again, while you have all been away relaxing at the beach, we’ve been busy as beavers up here at the Club. This season you will again be welcomed by an improved Ski Club Building. The key highlights include renovations to the High Line room, which has been updated to conform to the look of the recently renovated Conclusion Room and the replacement of the old, shaky deck with a brand new one that will extend further down the side of the building. This will give us a much better view of the events on High Line.
Matt Gnoza will be returning as the Director of the KSC/KMS Weekend Programs in conjunction with our partnership with the Killington Mountain School. This season, we will also be operating the Hopefuls Program, which was previously operated by the Killington Ski School. We expect this change will benefit Ski Club parents and their children as now all of the Weekend Programs will be coordinated through the Ski Club. We hope to continue to build off the success that the Weekend Programs have experienced since KSC and KMS took them over from the Killington Ski School a few years ago. For the first time this year, on-line registration is available for the Weekend Programs. Please go to www.killingtonmountainschool.org for program and registration information. Click on Athletics and then KSC/KMS Weekend Programs.
Along with the KSC/KMS Weekend Programs for our student-athletes, the Club will once again offer the Master Racing and Skillfuls Recreational Coaching Program to all adult Club members. The Club started Skillfuls 30 years ago with the goal of providing top notch all-mountain coaching to Club members. Masters/Skillfuls has grown and changed over the years, but the goal has remained unchanged – to provide a wonderful amenity that is available to all Club members at an affordable price. You can register on-line when you register for the Club.
This year will also mark the second year of our on-line registration system. We have made minor modifications to the registration in order to continue to make the process seamless for both members and the Ski Club Office. This year, families can add multiple email addresses to their profile which will allow Club communications to go to home and work emails, spouses and children if desired. Please be sure to update the email section of your Club profile on-line.
The Board has also determined to eliminate work credits from now on. We are doing this to help keep dues as low as possible for everyone given the Club’s various obligations. Work credits were instituted in the past in order to encourage members to volunteer for events and other functions. Going forward, the Board believes that most of our members are willing to help out without work credits and that most, if not all, of the people who previously volunteered for work credits will continue to volunteer to support the Club without the credits.
Please remember to come to the Ski Sale on October 9-11th at Snowshed. Make sure you purchase freely since all proceeds from the Club portion of the Ski Sale go directly to the Club. Plus, there are some great deals-especially if you get there early. See the Club’s website at www.killingtonskiclub.com for details about the sale.
I want to thank everyone for their membership in the Club and hope that everybody has a great fall. So, let’s hope for another cold and snowy winter and I can’t wait to see everybody soon. Yippee!!
Sincerely,
Jay Levine
President
